Description

A vigorous climber growing up to 10 m tall (1-2m of annual growth). Strikingly large, heart-shaped leaves up to 30 cm in length are its main attraction. Unusual, small (2-4 cm), pipe-like flowers blooming in May-June. Best planted in half-shade. It requires fertile, fresh soil; in full sun and on dry soil it's frequently attacked by spiders.

A vigorous climber (but a slower grower than Vitis coignetiae) with stunning, large (15-25 cm), 3-5 lobed leaves that turn crimson in autumn. Attains a height of 6-8 m with up to 2 m of annual growth. It has small soil requirements and is frost hardy. Native to Far East (China, Japan, Korea, Syberia). Suitable for growing up tall fences, arbours, and sturdy supports, everywhere where there is too little room for Vitis coignetiae.
Pruning: when it disturbs neighbouring plants. It’s best pruned in late autumn or winter (before the start of the growing season), or in summer, after the new wood has become partially woody. Otherwise it will bleed sap.

An attractive vine growing up to 2-3m tall, with coarsely toothed leaves, densely mottled white and tinged pink. New shoots are reddish. A polish variety selected in the district of Warsaw of the same name. A robust climber with attractive trumpet-shaped, brilliant orange flowers in July-September. Starts blooming in its second to third year after planting. It normally climbs by aerial roots, but needs a little support until established. Flowers best in full sun, in sheltered and warm locations; may freeze during severe winters. Excellent when trained over an arbour or a pergola and is particularly useful for covering walls and strong supports.
