Description

A lovely climber reaching up to 10m (1-3m of annual growth), long and profusely flowering. A striking floral display: light violet, with a white spot at the base, flowers are borne in long racemes during May. Starts blooming the third, forth season after planting. The stems twine in a clockwise direction. Leaves pinnate, green, turning yellow in autumn. Best grown in sheltered, warm and sunny positions, in moderately fertile and moist soils. Requires a strong support. A well proven variety though it may freeze during severe winters. Particularly useful for growing over a wall.

It starts flowering sooner than many other wisterias - usually the second, third season after planting. The stems twine in an anti-clockwise direction. Leaves pinnate, green, turning yellow in autumn. Best grown in sheltered, warm and sunny positions, in moderately fertile and moist soils. It may freeze during severe winters. Requires a strong support.

Lonicera caprifolium Inga - perfoliate honeysuckle

A popular climber reaching up to 3m (1m of annual growth). Ornamental fragrant beige flowers, borne in whorls at the ends of shoots during May and June, followed by orange berries (July-October). Slightly pubescent leaves and stems. It doesn't have any special soil requirements. In May it's often subject to attack by aphides, especially when grown in dry and sunny positions. An excellent all-purpose climber.
