Fragrant climber

A beautiful Polish cultivar bearing always semi-double and double, lime-yellow and bell-shaped flowers, smelling of grapefruit. 

Piękna, nowa, polska odmiana z serii „Surprise” wyhodowana przez Szczepana Marczyńskiego. Tę odmianę charakteryzują pełne i półpełne, przewieszające się kwiaty o dzwonkowatym kształcie i jasnożółtej barwie, pachnące (woń grejpfruta). Kwitnie obficie w maju i czerwcu. Kwiaty duże, średnicy około 7-9 cm. Wzrost umiarkowanie silny. Pnącze dorasta do ok 3m wysokości. Wymaga stanowiska jasnego, ale znosi również zacienienie. Gleby przeciętnie żyzne, przepuszczalne, umiarkowanie wilgotne, znosi lekkie zakwaszenie podłoża. Odmiana świetna do sadzenia przy ogrodzeniach, różnych podporach ogrodowych, kamieniach, starych pniach. Świetna jako roślina okrywowa. Jest mało wymagająca, nie wymaga cięcia, mrozoodporna.

Clematis Stellar jest nową odmianą powojnika wyhodowana przez Szczepana Marczyńskiego. Przypomina wyglądem inną bardzo popularną odmianę Early Snow z tej samej grupy Flammula. Pnącze dorasta do około 4 metrów wysokości i zakwita dość późno. Kwiaty są małe, gwiazdkowe w kolorze białym. Przyjemnie pachną. Pojawiają od lipca do września. Kwitnie bardzo obficie. Roślina żywotna o niewielkich wymaganiach i łatwa w uprawie. Preferuje stanowisko słoneczne i gleby w miarę żyzne i lekko wilgotne Wymaga silnego cięcia. Ze względu na zapach warto sadzić w pobliżu okien, przy altanach i tarasach. Może być również z powodzeniem uprawiana w donicy. Pięknie się komponuje z innymi powojnikami o ciemnych kwiatach.

A charming, moderately fast growing cultivar. During June-September it covers with a mass of pale, lilac-rose, nodding flowers. Spreading tepals, edged in darker blue-purple. A healthy climber, it has low soil requirements. Free-flowering and sweetly scented variety, excellent for growing over fences, walls, trellises and poles. It can clamber over natural supports e.g. deciduous and coniferous bushes and dwarf shrubs. Suitable for cultivation in large containers. recommended to both amateurs and experienced gardeners. May be used as ground cover.

A slender-stemmed, scrambling perennial originating from Japan. Stems don’t twine round supports, but they can lean against them. Bell-shaped, white, lightly scented flowers, tinted with mauve at the center, borne from June to September, followed, in July-October, by silky seed heads. Best planted on perennial borders or among shrubs. It may also be used as ground cover.

A Polish variety raised by Szczepan Marczyński. Flowers are exceptionally large for the Atragene Group, light lemon-yellow and during budding – lime coloured. In full bloom the colour whitens. Bell-shaped, nodding, set on purple pedicles. They have 4 lanceolate, slightly wavy and pointy sepals. Stamens are composed of yellow anthers on lime-coloured filaments and pistils are light-yellow. Flowers borne in May and once more - although less abundantly - in summer. It has pretty, dark green and relatively large leaves (20 cm long and 18 cm wide) which are compound – trifoliate, with leaflets of attractive texture and serrated edges. It reaches 2-3 m height. Attaches itself to the support by means of twining leaf petioles. Frost hardy and undemanding. Prefers sunny but not hot sites and tolerates semi-shade. Particularly suitable for training along fences, garden supports, rocks, old tree stumps or over deciduous or coniferous shrubs. Useful as a groundcover.

A non-clinging herbaceous perennial, forming masses of small, star-shaped and lightly scented white flowers from July to September. The scent is more distinguished in a sunny position. It grows up to 1,5 m.

A vigorous, profusely flowering climber. A thick wall of hundreds of light pink, slightly vanilla scented flowers, 5-7 cm across, can stay on the plant even for a few weeks in May and June. 4 wide tepals, lighter and wavy at the edges and yellow anthers on creamy filaments. Attractive, brown green foliage. Flower buds and sometimes also stems can freeze during harsh winters, what will significantly reduce or eliminate the flowering the following spring. It is suitable for growing in a sheltered spot with a milder microclimate. It attaches itself to the support with leaf tendrils. Particularly useful for growing over large supports, trees, fences and arbours.

A beautiful, very strong-growing and floriferous climber. During May and June a mass of scented, rosy mauve-pink flowers, abundantly scattered over the whole plant, can last as long as a few weeks. Unfortunately flower buds and sometimes stems tend to freeze during severe winters. It’s, therefore, suitable for growing only in sheltered positions, with a milder microclimate.

Its flowers are always full, both on last year’s wood and on new growth, relatively large for the Atragene Group (10 – 12 cm in diameter). Bell-shaped, nodding, set on purple pedicules and pleasantly grapefruit-scented, they have 4 elliptical, pointed sepals slightly wavy along the edges. On the outside the sepals are creamy-pink, on the underside light-pink or nearly cream coloured. The center is filled with 15 – 17 staminodes of similar length as the sepals or shorter, lanceolate, slightly wavy and pointy. The outer staminodes are of similar colour as sepals and they get lighter towards the middle. Stamens have yellow anthers on cream coloured filaments, and pistils are also cream coloured. Flowers are borne in May and once more - although less abundantly - in summer. A charming cultivar of compact growth. It attracts attention with its conspicuous sapphire-blue flowers with yellow stamens. Long and profuse flowering from June to September. Particularly useful for cultivation in containers on terraces and balconies or in small gardens.

A Polish variety developed by Szczepan Marczyński. Its small purple flowers (3-4.5 cm in diameter) have intense pleasant scent. It produces abundant blossom in July-August and continues to bloom until early October. It has small, dark green leaves, which remains pleasant looking until autumn. Sunny stand recommended. It grows up to 3.5 m high. This plant can be grown on freestanding or wall-mounted supports, as well as on natural supports and in large containers, preferably against a pale background. This variety needs major pruning.
