Requirements

Asters prefer average garden soil, but grow best in fertile, well-drained, humus-rich, and moderately moist, alkaline soil in a sunny location. Protect the plants from winter by cutting the stems just above the ground and covering them with a 10-15 cm layer of mulch or bark.
