Description
Beautiful Polish cultivar bred by Polish plantsman Szczepan Marczyński, named after the Jesuit brother Stefan Franczak (1917-2009). Has a bright blue flowers with a lighter stripe along the midrib, whitening towards the centre. The flowers are 6-10 cm in diameter, consist of 6 petals with fancily wavy edges. Yellow anthers on white filaments. Blooms profusely in June and July. Leaves single and trifoliate, light green. Young shoots are green-purple, and the old ones are brown. It grows up to 1,7-2 m height. It can climb over various supports such as fences, trellises or shrubs. Looks particulary attractive combined with yellow-leaved or yellow-flowered plants. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded. Good for growing in containers. Requires light pruning.
