Cornus canadensis in small (15-20 cm height) spreading subshrub forming a carpet-like mat. Producing white flowers followed by bunches of bright red berries in autumn. The leaves are oval, green. Spreading by shallow, underground runners. Prefers moist, acidic, well-drained soils in full or partial shade. It is best planted in mossy areas, under trees. May be used as a groundcover.
