A compact attractive shrub that grows as a small tree reaching a height of 1 -1,5 meters. It is prized for its decorative foliage, featuring large, simple, lobed, and downy leaves. The edible, sweet, pear-shaped fruits measure 3–4 cm in diameter and ripen in September; the flesh is pinkish-red. This fig requires substantial winter protection. As it is not fully frost-hardy (-15˚C). It is better to be planted in the warmest, most sheltered, and sunny spots in the garden—ideally against a south-facing wall. It thrives in fertile, well-drained soil. An interesting and distinctive plant for home gardens, it is also suitable for growing in large containers on balconies and terraces.
