An ornamental shrub growing to 2 m tall and 1,5 width with rounded shape. Leaves are burgundy red, 3-lobbed, deciduous. Dark red stems, often curved, slightly angular. Pinkish-white clusters of tiny, cup-shaped flowers appear in June-July and are followed by red, ovoid fruits. Fully hardy to -42oC, not susceptible to air pollution, strong winds. Has high tolerance to drought. Ninebark is highly adaptable, will thrive both in dry and wet locations, alkaline or acidic soil in sun or partial shade. Suitable for back of border planting and for hedges.
